Ing Life Insurance
ING Life Insurance - Trusted American Insurance Companies
Based in Amsterdam, ING Group is and international family of companies that specialized in financial services. The ING Group is ranked by Fortune Magazine as eighth in the global 500 category. The ING Group employs approximately 10, 000 people in the United States and serves over 29 million customers. Ing Life Insurance provides life insurance products from three companies: Security Life of Denver Insurance Company, ReliaStar Life Insurance Company, and ReliaStar Life Insurance Company of New York. Security Life of Denver was established in 1928 and acquired by ING in 1977. ReliaStar (originally Northwestern National Life Insurance Company) was founded in 1885 and was acquired by ING in 2000.
All three life insurance providing companies with ING have the same excellent ratings with the primary insurance industry rating agencies. Ing Life Insurance companies earned an A from A.M. Best, A- from Fitch, A2 from Moody's, and A+ from Standard and Poor's. These are ratings designed to assess financial strength or the ability to pay out claims now and in the future. They are based upon analysis of company history, management, cash flow, investments, capital, surplus, and more. These specific organizations routinely rate companies in the life-health insurance field. ING has also won a Green Power Leadership award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The ING group provides financial products in all areas and stages of life. In the area of life insurance, they offer Ing Life Insurance in term life insurance, universal life insurance, and variable universal life insurance. Term life insurance is an inexpensive policy that is for a limited amount of time (up to 30 years). This is usually used to replace income during mortgage or high debt years by young families or individuals. Some of the ING term life insurance products are convertible to universal life at the close of the term.
Universal life insurance is flexible, permanent insurance that builds cash value. These policies are flexible because, within certain minimums and maximums, the consumer can choose when and how much to pay for the premium and because the consumer can change the amount of the death benefit as life circumstances change. Variable Universal Life insurance is a flexible, permanent insurance product like universal life that builds cash value. However, the variable term is added because the policyholder can choose an investment vehicle to help the cash value grow quicker. These policies have an element of risk because the consumer also assumes the risk of the investment, meaning the policy can lose cash value as well.
